T20 World Cup: Aam Aadmi Party also Demanded Cancellation of the Match with Pakistan
A leader of India's Aam Aadmi Party has demanded that the scheduled T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday be canceled. The effects of the recent attacks in Indian-administered Kashmir are also being felt in politics and cricket, and the anti-Pakistan sentiment is growing in the country's political parties.
Now many leaders are demanding the cancellation of the India-Pakistan cricket match scheduled for Sunday in the T20 World Cup in Dubai. Aam Aadmi Party leader and MLA Atashi Marlina, who is also a member of the party's political affairs committee, has spoken out in favor of canceling the match.
"I am convinced that not only the Aam Aadmi Party but also the Bharatiya Janata Party and its leadership, including the Prime Minister, will agree that such extremist attacks in the country will not stop until now," said Atashi Marlina, according to ANI. Until then, it will not be appropriate to play such a match.
Leaders of the BJP and other parties have also opposed the match before Atashi Marlina. Prominent among them are Asaduddin Owaisi, leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittihad-e-Muslimeen, and Subramanian Swamy and Gariraj Singh of the BJP.
Asaduddin Owaisi said, "We want to ask the Prime Minister of India that when our nine brave soldiers were 'martyred', will India still play a T20 match with Pakistan?" Modi ji, did you not say earlier that when Indian soldiers were being killed, Manmohan Singh's government was feeding biryani to Pakistanis? In such a situation, will India play a T20 match on the occasion of the 'martyrdom' of our soldiers?
Meanwhile, BJP Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy said, “What is the need to have a match with Pakistan, the terrorist trader? Does J Shah of BCCI know what his father is campaigning for as Home Minister? Cricket is important for Dubai dancers who earn from betting. To save the country's honor by canceling this match.
"I think this match should be reconsidered because the situation between India and Pakistan is not conducive," said Federal Minister Gariraj Singh, who is known for his controversial statements.
However, Congress leader and Indian Cricket Board vice-president Rajiv Shukla has backed the match."We condemn these attacks," he said. As far as this match is concerned, it is an international agreement. This is an ICC tournament and we can't stop it. "
