T20 World Cup 2021: Social media users shocked by the revelation of Scottish kit designing 12-year-old girl

The case of cricket is also very strange in which the fans are not only interested to know about the performance of their favorite players but they are also curious to know a lot about their personal lives. Not only that, but people are also very interested in what is happening off the field.

The T20 World Cup is currently underway in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. Sports and players have their place, but many other aspects are also in the spotlight at the moment, such as who designed the kits worn by the teams participating in this global event and how it was made.

In this case, the Scottish cricket team has spread all over. The kit that its players are wearing to compete in the world competition is the most talked about and the main reason is that this kit was designed by a 12-year-old student.

How did Rebecca Downey design the kit?

Cricket Scotland's head of marketing and communications, Adriana Wright, told BBC Urdu that the process of designing tickets for the T20 World Cup began in May this year and a children's competition was held. He was to design the kit for the Scottish cricket team.

"More than 200 children from all over Scotland took part in the competition," he said. A panel shortlisted all of these designs and the three selected designs were placed before the Scottish team, which unanimously selected Rebecca Downey's design.

"The design was handed over to the Scottish team's official supplier Gray Nickels, who finalized it," said Adriana Wright.

"Twelve-year-old Rebecca Downey is a student at a school in Headington, near Edinburgh," says Adriana Wright. She also enjoys playing cricket and is a huge fan of the Scottish cricket team.

Rebecca had the opportunity to visit the ground in Edinburgh last month to watch the T20 match between Scotland and Zimbabwe, on which occasion she also met the Scottish players.

Adriana Wright says this is the first time a competition has been held among children for the design of the Scottish team's shirt.

"One of the reasons was that cricket is not the number one sport in Scotland like Pakistan, so Cricket Scotland considered it appropriate to involve children in the process and give them a greater interest in cricket," he said. And to create excitement.

Adriana Wright says: "It is not possible for Rebecca to go to the T20 World Cup because it is difficult to travel outside the UK at the moment due to the code situation and then Rebecca is busy at school but she sent a message to the Scottish team. Definitely sent in which he has expressed good wishes for his cricketers.

The journey of the color kit in international cricket

The color kit in cricket was started by Kerry Packer in the seventies when he landed the players for the first time in the World Cricket Series he started on November 28, 1978, at the Sydney Cricket Ground in the color kit.

Many circles at the time did not see the change in a positive light and called it 'pajama cricket', but the white ball, the black site screen, and the color cut became an integral part of international cricket in the years to come.

The color kit was first seen in international cricket at the 1992 World Cup before all the World Cup teams wore the traditional white kit. In December 2000, it was decided that all ODIs would be played with a color kit.
